Got your first job on farm and want to hit the ground running on day one? Thinking about a career in dairy and want to find out what’s involved, without spending a fortune?
This is where you start: choose from one of the bite size dairy training options below.
We recommend starting with ‘In the Dairy Shed’ module to cover the basics of shed set up, common terms, teamwork, loading, cupping, observations and cleaning. Move on to the other two when you’re ready. They all come with supporting docs and you can watch the videos over and over again. Together these three modules make up the Dairy Assistant training.
Ready to make some money as a relief milker? Make sure you’re ready for day one with our Relief Milker (Milk Harvester) video training.
Or are you starting out your dairy career as a Dairy Assistant? Our comprehensive video training for Dairy Assistants will teach you about mustering, stock handling, feed, water, fencing, milking, animal health and calving.
Both these modules come with a Certification of Completion, quizzes to test your skills and supporting training guides.
Got a new team with you for calving? No time to train them? Get them to watch our calving videos so they’re helpful from day one. If you’re calf rearing for the first time, or it’s been a while since anyone covered the basics with you – check out our calf rearing module. Ideal training if you are already on farm, or have a lifestyle block.
Check out this short video (of course!) on how to purchase and watch our video training. Find out about payment options, purchasing for staff and how to watch the content and do the quizzes.
Why choose Agricademy training? In this short video we chat with Clarence Stolte in Carterton, Wairarapa about his thoughts on our training model. Clarence is a 50:50 sharemilker, a farm owner and supervises a few other farms. Clarence has been dairy farming for 17 years and loves the mix of hands on, outdoors, technical and technology skills we get to use every day in dairy farming – and would love to see more enthusiastic, new entrants into the dairy industry.
“There is a huge benefit in being able to offer early training that doesn’t require lots of reading. I struggle to read pages of information, but these short videos explain more than a thousand words!”
Completing video training is the first step to building skills in dairy. If you want to put those skills into practice with on farm follow up, talk with one of our partners around the country. On farm training is priced flexibly in two hour blocks (see, still no classrooms or weeks away from work!) and arranged at a time to suit you and the boss.
